Anubis Baboon's kissing.

Is monkey also kissing?
Is their kiss has the same meaning like ours?

At the same time with this question you must be curious about where is this kissing thing coming from?

So I looked into the internet, I can easily found the answer.

There is a quite stupid story written.

The explanation was that from primitive era, when man went out for a hunting, after they come back home, they are checking their wives whether they eat the food or not during they were out.

I defy that hypothesis.
Cause they can know if their wife ate food that have been in store without their tongue down throat to his wife.

Not to mention it needs a pretty endeavor work.

Especially when it comes to a monkey or primates which are similar with us, it's not easy to see them when they were kissing each other but rarely can we.

Then you will notice that there is nothing different.

In observation, I caught their kissing from the young monkeys more than grown up monkeys.

It could be a fun playing between baby monkeys.
But if we consider the circumstances of the details, I think it would be very simple.
They are kissing when they want to cheer or console others.
So far, i observed 3 or 4 times when they are kissing.
One case happened between baby chimps and the others were between Anubis baboons.

In chimp’s case, two of them were playfully chasing each other and suddenly stopped for kissing.

It was quite a deep kiss.

Because the tongues were involved.

It was the first time when I observed kissing but not humans.
Until then when the first thing happened, I didn’t realize the significant aspect.
There was no noticeable point because I thought it just happened only one time accidentally.

Second case was between Anubis baboons.

Coincidentally there were some particular circumstances.

Scene 1.

Baby Anubis baboon calling out loud for mommy.
But mommy Anubis baboon didn't come near the baby.

Maybe mommy Anubis baboon was trying to wean a baby baboon.
That’s why mommy baboon climbed up to high enough place so baby cannot reach her.
After many times of attempting to climb up where baby’s mom. But baby baboon has failed, and after that turn to other siblings and kissed and hugged.

Scene 2.

Mommy Anubis baboon were nursing one of the babies.

The other one was hover around them.

Mommy Anubis baboon was kind of annoyed so she pushed away the other baby.
The baby, who was pushed away from mom, felt a little frustration so it goes to the other siblings and was hugged and kissed again.

Those two cases obviously happened under the situation when they need comfort and intimacy.

Um.... Let's get back to the human's kissing.

In my personal opinion, I am more intrigued towards the fact that kissing is coming form sharing of love and affection.

I'm not thinking they were kissing out of nowhere.

Before kissing, they should be hugging and the faces are supposed to be touching or in contact then you know what’s next.

Don’t you think it’s more likely answer than checking food in their mouth?

The video clip below was just recently filmed.

It’s not relevant with my case but it is about the two babies of Anubis the baboon.

They are very close and getting along with each other much more than others.
